TROY-
Thomas T. Yaiser, Sr., 88, of Troy, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital with his daughter by his side.
Tom was born in Troy, in
an
area
known

Ida
Hill or Prospect Park. He attended St. Francis de Sales Grade School, Catholic Central High School and one semester at Siena College. After joining the U.S. Naval Reserve, he went to work for the State of New York, Department of Public Works as a Draftsman. Approximately one and a half years later, he joined the regular U.S. Navy on Active Duty.
Two years later, he received an honorable discharge and
returned to Troy.
Tom worked with his father at Tom's snack bar (at the top of Oil Mill Hill) and attended Hudson Valley Community College. After graduation from HVCC, Tom went to the University of Florida, and later to work in the Architects and Engineers Dept. of Public Works (later to be called the Office of General Services).
During Tom's thirty-plus years of State service, he always found time to help his father, Thornie aka Tom, at either Tom's snack bar, Thornie's diner or Tino's pizza.
After retiring from the Office of General
Services,
Tom joined the Robert's Real Estate company as a real estate agent for 10 years, then to Coldwell
Banker
Prime
Properties
where
he
retired from.
It was in 1993 that his cousin and past president, Edward Patrick, asked to meet Tom at 122nd Street and 1st Avenue to review and talk about the possibility of moving the Lansingburgh Veteran's Club from Fifth Ave. to its present location. Later on, Tom became the Real Estate Agent for the Veteran's club.
The Lansingburgh Veteran's Golf League was organized by 5 veterans 25 years ago.
Tom was one of them.
The Lansingburgh Veteran's Memorial Day Parade was also established 25 years ago and is the largest event of the year for our club.
Tom is just one of the many workers, on one of the numerous committees to help this large event be successful.
Tom was on the board of directors and was a life member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh.
