Obituary of John F. McClellan, Sr.
TROY-
John F. McClellan, Sr., 87, of Troy, passed away September 15, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital following a brief illness. His loving family was by his side.
Born in Cambridge on July 9, 1934, John was the son of the late John and Irene (Skelly) McClellan. He was a life long resident of Troy and served in the Army National Guard for 16 years.
John retired from Freihofer's Bakery after more than 20 years.
Besides his love for the Yankees, his plaid shirts and hot dogs, John loved his wife of 59 years unconditionally. He would hold her hand whenever he could, until he took his last breath. His love for his sons, their wives and grandchildren and great grandchildren will forever be missed.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlotte L. (Sutton) McClellan, whom he married on June 30, 1962 in Troy.
Also survived by his sons and their wives John, Jr. (Rebecca) of Waterford and Joel (Michelle) of Troy, grandchildren; Katie Gamache (Thomas), Catherine Spann, Robert Demetros (Amber), Morgan Lynch (Michael) Spencer McClellan (Kaylie Hull) and great grandchildren; Hunter and Gwendolyn, Thomas and Roman, Ava Adele and Florence.
John is also survived by sisters Ellie and Pearl.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his daughter Elaine, and siblings Billy and Grace.
