Obituary of Harold W. Brown

WATERVLIET- Harold W. Brown, 85, of Watervliet and formerly of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2021 at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center. Harold Brown was born in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late George L. and Alar (McCraney) Brown. Mr. Brown served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1953-1955, receiving an Honorable Discharge. He was employed as a Laborer with the Iron Workers Union in Manhattan, NY. He retired from the Union and also worked as a security guard. Mr. Brown moved upstate and made a home in Schenectady for over 30 years. Mr. Brown recently relocated to Watervliet for the last 3 years. Harold was a life member of the Marine Corps. League and was a devoted Methodist. He will be sorely missed as a kind man who looked out for others. On September 24, 1996 he was united in marriage to the former Joan M. Scriven in Schenectady, NY. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Joan, his daughters Harriet Brown and Danielle Smith as well as 4 granddaughters and 2 great grandchildren. Harold was the youngest of all his siblings and was predeceased by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
