Obituary of James C. Krege

TROY- James C. Krege, 85, of Troy, passed peacefully on Monday, March 22, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in Buffalo on April 24, 1935 and was the only child of the late Howard and Catherine (Saxer) Krege. Jim's family moved to Troy when he was in middle school and attended Lansingburgh Schools, where he graduated in the class of 1953. He worked at General Electric in Schenectady just out of high school, then with Whitmyer & Ferris Advertising with his father, and the New York State Senate for a few years before returning to GE where he would eventually retire in 2001. Jim was the devoted husband of 61 years to Barbara Jean (Konen) Krege and the loving father of Alexis (Wes) Ostrander, Jay (Michele) Krege and Christopher (Joan) Krege. He was affectionately known as Pop' to his fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren and will be missed terribly by all. Jim was a member and a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Jim also enjoyed home improvement projects and making wood characters (Frosty, Snoopy, elves) for his family to display on their lawn at Christmas. He loved to watch the New York Yankees and was an avid fan. Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service at St. John's Cemetery, 250 Cemetery Road, Lansingburgh, on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 1pm.
