Obituary of Donald C. "Don" Emory, Sr.

Donald (Don) Emory passed away surrounded by his family on August 26th, 2018. Born and raised in Albany, he attended Albany High School and over the years worked at Allied Trucking, was the Superintendent of Housing at South Mall Towers, and owned and operated Ginas Imported Food & Deli in Troy. Don was well known in the funeral business from helping his cousin Saverio (Sam) Bizzarro at Bizzarros Funeral Home. He once was awarded the Man of the Year award from the Cerebral Palsy Center. He is predeceased by his parents Robert Emory Sr. and Anna Hotaling and brothers Walter, Kenneth, and Richard Emory. He is survived by his brother Robert Emory (Cathy), and sisters Theresa Brewer (Larry), Lee Fink (Fred) and Barbara Coons, as well as several nieces and nephews. Hes father to three sons; Donald Jr, Robert E. (Heather), and Louis J. (Raeanne). He is grandfather to Donald III, Aaron, and Colin Emory. He is also survived by his ex-wife and friend Eugenia (Gina) Emory and special companion Nora Forget. Don loved spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies included; boating, fishing, cars, music, cooking, and camping. Services will be held on Friday August 31, 2018 at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2416 7thAve. Watervliet. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 am 11:00 am with a funeral Mass commencing at 11:00am. Interment in St. Marys Cemetery in Troy will be private. The family wishes to thank Reverend Steven Scarmozzino, St. Peters Hospice Inn staff, and Rensselaer County Community Hospice staff for the care given to their father during this difficult time. Special thanks to Dr. Ram Agrawal and to our aunt and uncle, Jo and Jerry for their compassion and support.
