I alway considered Aunt Maris the best Aunt anyone could have. As a child I spent summer visits and later when we moved back to NY a lot of time at my Aunt & Uncle Buds House. We always had so much fun camping, tents in the back yard, hunting frogs for Randy’s snakes or Mountain Dew and a candy bar from Staley’s. I have such great memories that will be with me always. Aunt Maris’s love of music is something I have always had as well playing Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Gordon Lightfoot and many more before bed falling to sleep to that music always has given me such comfort. She always had at least 6 tins of various cookies and milk before bed. Her and my mom used to talk on the phone for hours at a time. I always joked with mom that the phone company developed the program unlimited just for them. Thank goodness or we all would’ve been in the poorhouse. I can see mom’s face as aunt Maris showed up smiling and ready to catch up after five years of not being able to talk to each other. My Mom loved her older sister with all her heart. Rest in peace Aunt Maris and thank you for all the wonderful memories.
