Obituary of Wayne A. Mantello
CLIFTON PARK
Wayne A. Mantello, 58, of Clifton Park, formerly of Troy, passed away suddenly on March 1, 2017.
The son of Anthony Michael and Antoinette Marie (Byra) Mantello, Wayne was born in Troy on March 17, 1958 and remained a lifelong resident. He received his education from Troy High School, Adirondack Community College, and Green Mountain College, graduating cum laude and earning a Bachelors of Science.
Wayne enlisted in the United States Navy in 1977 and was honorably discharged in 1981. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In 1983 and was honorably discharged in 1984. During both enlistments, Wayne earned medals and ribbons for his good conduct, character and service in the military.
Before retirement, Wayne was employed by the State of New York.
He was an avid sports fan. His favorite team was the NY Jets. Wayne played football and baseball in his high school years.
Left to cherish his memory, Wayne is survived by both of his parents, Anthony and Antoinette Mantello, his devoted companion Maureen Gogan, his son Anthony Michael Gogan, his brother Craig A. (the late Coleen) Mantello, his nephew Jordan, his niece Samantha, his granddaughters Gianna Mae and Layla Jean, his godmother Mary Elden, uncle Jim, aunt Donna, and several cousins also survive.
Wayne was predeceased by his beloved canine buddy Brutus.
The funeral service will commence at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, March 7, at St. Augustine's Church, 25 115th, Lansingburgh, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Interment with military honors will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon - Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
In keeping with Wayne's wishes, his viewing will be strictly private and there will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Wayne's memory to one of his favorite charities; St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
