Obituary of Ada C. O'Donnell
Lansingburgh, NY-
Ada C. O'Donnell, 67, of Lansingburgh, has passed onto her next adventure on March 7, 2016. A daughter of the late Blaine Sumner Atkins and Catherine Magdeline Atkins, Ada was born on a farm in Averill Park and was raised by her grandfather, Frederick Alexander Atkins. She moved to Wynantskill where she met her "best friend from third grade" Peggy. In 1965, she became a resident of Lansingburgh and was a graduate of Troy High School.
Ada worked at Prudential Insurance Company for 29 years and Community Resource FCU for 9 years and Waldenbooks for 1 year.
She loved to travel and visited many places in including Las Vegas, Florida, Pennsylvania Amish Country, Maine and many other locations too lengthy to list. Ada was an avid reader of just about anything but favored mysteries and crime stories. She also enjoyed shooting pool, crafts and baking cookies - "when she wasn't busy procrastinating!"
Ada was blessed to have many dear friends throughout her years and believed the right kind of friends came into her life when she needed them the most, especially AnnMarie Slater & Martina Wifladt.
Survivors include her son Jeff Allen O'Donnell, her daughter April Marie O'Donnell & her fianc Jimmy Peabody, a kind and considerate "son" all of Troy, her brother Thomas Atkins of Texas, her grandson Cody O'Donnell and granddaughter Kylana Douglas, her beloved sister-in-law and "partner in crime" Diane O'Donnell, brother-in-law Mickey O'Donnell, her sweet cat, Jasmine, & several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Ada was predeceased by her brother Donald McKinley.
Ada would also like to express special thanks to Rensselaer County Hospice Team, in particular Bree St. Louis, our "Everyday Angel".
Relatives and friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., followed by interment in Oakwood Cemetery.
