Obituary of William A. "Bill" Whitney
Watervliet, NY-
William A. Whitney, 58, of Watervliet, died suddenly on January 16, 2016 as a result of complications from recent surgery.
A son of Eveline (Mary) Whitney and the late Frederick W. Whitney.
Bill was born on January
7, 1958 in Kittery, Maine. He was a lifelong resident of the Troy area and graduated from Troy High School, Class of 1976.
Following high school, Bill joined the Marine Corps. His Marine service was in California.
For most of his life, Bill was a general laborer. He enjoyed his work in warehouses and industrial parks and was routinely a forklift operator. He was last employed by Atlas Healthcare Linen Services in South Troy. Bill was also a talented portrait artist, which he took after his father.
Survivors include his mother, Eveline Whitney, his brothers; Fred (Karen) Whitney, John Whitney, Paul Whitney and his sister Cheryl (Bob) Cleiss. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his father, Bill was also predeceased by a sister, Tina Louise Bravo, she died in 2003.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 21 at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 22 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Downtown Troy.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
