I spent my early yrs going to Stoler's after attending Hollow Tree Elementary School. I used to love the record selection and purchased several hundred 45 RPM's at Stoler's. I used to also love their candy section. The business was a place I enjoyed as a youngster on an almost daily basis. I lived on the corner of Patton Dr and West Ave in Noroton Heights. God bless you for all you brought to the community with your store.

I meet Simon only once, at the Grafton Senior Center, because I don't go there regularly. But we had such a a nice conversation and had so much in common I have thought fondly of him ever since. I was one of the many he "charmed!" He was a real "mensch." There aren't many like him , and the world is poorer for his passing.

Stoler's was always somewhat of an icon as we were growing up in the Noroton Heights area of Darien. I have too many memories to recount here, but suffice it to say that Stoler's was our place to go for newspapers, candy, school supplies and laughs at the headlines on the rags at the checkout counter. Both Stoler brothers will be remembered with affection by our family.

I send my sincere sympathy to the family. Stolers was my store and so very much more growing up. It was where I grew up when I went shopping with my mom or road my bike down every Saturday to buy candy from the most amazing candy display on the planet. We loved Stolers and the Stolers and I bet anyone over the age of 40 in Darien does too. Thanks for being our community store.

As a Darien kid in 40's/50's , Stoler's was special. I remember "Mr Stoler" and his brother Bill. They "were" the original downtown, along with Palmers/ Darien sport Shop and Gilbert's Pharmacy......... I rode my bike there and bought cool stuff..........Mr Stoler, i never knew his name "Simon" ,was always friendly with a smile, just like the old photo. Regards to The Stoler Family, Steve Crouse

I had the pleasure of meeting whom was a very good friend of my mother...the late Lorna Eldridge. I remember him coming to visit numerous times and always telling the story of how he met my mom as a little girl walking down a dirt road on the island of Jamaica. We looked forward to his visits to the Bronx, my mom always had plans to go into the city with Simon and the grand kids. You meet someone like Simon Stoler ever so often. He had a huge impact on the life of my mother and we enjoyed him when he visited. May God bless his family and may he rest in peace. The Eldridge and Santiago familu
