Obituary of Elizabeth F. DeLong

Troy- Elizabeth (Newkirk) DeLong, 57, of Troy died unexpectedly on July 23, 2014 in Albany, NY. A daughter of Leonard and Faith (Sagar) Newkirk, Elizabeth, known to all as "Betty" was born on March 25, 1957 in Troy. Survivors include her four children, Jason Helmar, Elizabeth Helmar, Crystal Soto and Roxanne Helmar; her grandchildren Alexandera, Sara, Alexis, Jorge, Kayshaleez, Leeiza, Nialeez, Aiden, Lidia, and Jayleigh. Betty's three brothers, Floyd Newkirk, Leonard Newkirk and Timothy Newkirk, as well as her cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. "You never said I'm leaving. You never said goodbye. You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. A million times I needed you. A million times I cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still. In my heart I hold a place that only you can fill!" A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday August 9th in the Chapel of the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (Corner of 104th Street) in Lansingburgh.
