Obituary
Obituary of Carmen Carde
Troy-
Our beloved mother, sister, auntie, grandmother and friend: Carmen Carde, 76, of Troy died unexpectedly on July 17, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital after battling cancer; her loving family was at her side.
Born in St. Sebastian, Puerto Rico, Carmen was a daughter of the late Ramon Jimmenez-Carde and Pilar Gonzalez. Carmen moved to the Bronx from Puerto Rico in 1960 and eventually to Troy in 2002. She was most recently a resident of Kennedy Towers. She made friends easily and was fondly remembered as being beautiful, loving, strong, independent, funny, caring and compassionate. Carmen was a hard worker and always provided for her family. Although she and her family "were not rich" - they never went without.
Carmen freely extended love and caring beyond her family. She was a Foster Grandparent with the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) based in Troy. She very much enjoyed being a foster grandparent during her final years. She was adored by all who knew her and was well liked among her co-workers in the "infant room" as well as the parents. She touched everyone with her laughter.
Carmen is survived by and lives on in the heart of her daughter Margarita "Magaly" Muniz and son Miguel "Mike" Garcia both of Troy, as well as her grandchildren: Julitza, Jason, Cynthia, Anthony, Jennifer and Robert. She was lucky to have had a chance to spend time with two great grandchildren as well, Kayde and Kaytiana.
Carmen is survived by her sisters Candida of New York City, Arlene and Marilene both of Puerto Rico and one brother Ramon of New Jersey. Her nephews Louie, Raymond and Steven who loved her as a "second mom" also survive. Carmen leaves behind a very dear friend, Radamace Garcia who helped her during her final years.
