Shirley A. McInerney
Shirley A. McInerney, 83, of Troy, passed away at the Eddy Heritage House on Friday, May 9, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy where she was raised and educated. Shirley graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1948. For several years she was employed by New York Telephone. While raising her family she worked in her parent's neighborhood store, Reilly's Confectionary located on Hoosick Street. Shirley was a former communicate of Our Lady of Victory Church.
Shirley is survived by her children; Colleen (Dennis) Nolan of Troy, William McInerney of Troy and Sharon (Charles) Dubacher of Cropseyville, her granddaughters; Mary Anne Nolan of Troy, Patricia Nolan of Arlington, VA and Amanda Dubacher of Troy.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Joseph McInerney who died in 1968.
Shirley always put her family first and enjoyed writing letters to her friends near and far. She enjoyed reading her novels, at times going through them faster than her children could replenish them. Shirley enjoyed her new friendships and activities during her stay at the Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center. One of her greatest joys was her three granddaughters.
The Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will commence at 11AM on Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church; Fr. Christopher De Giovini will celebrate the mass. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Riverview Funeral Home, Inc.
Shirley's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the 2nd floor staff of the Eddy Heritage House for the wonderful care and support extended to her and her family. They are a wonderful group of caregivers who treat everyone like family. Sincere thank you to the staff of Community Hospice: Cheryl, Darlene and Andy who helped Shirley and her family on her final journey. Thank you to Dr. Effendi and Nurse Betsy who cared so much for Shirley during her illness.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County or the Residence Activity Fund of Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center.
