Obituary of Kenneth J. Darrow, Sr.
Melrose-
Kenneth J. Darrow, Sr., 77, of Riley Road passed away on Wednesday, April 16th, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany following a brief illness. Ken was born in Easton, NY, a son of the late Clayton and Clara Thompson Darrow. Ken resided for the past 43 years in Melrose where he raised his family. Ken was employed by the City of Troy, for 28 years Ken worked in the public utilities department as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Melrose United Methodist Church. Ken loved to travel the "95 Corridor" and visited many places along the way from Canada to Florida. He enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with his family. Ken was a John Deere enthusiast.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie E. DeLair Darrow, whom he married on July 13, 1957, his devoted children; Kathleen Cregan of Ballston Spa, Carol (Maurice) Belanger of Troy, Dawn (Rick) Favour of Melrose, Sandra (Jeffrey) Noyes of Stillwater, Mary (Kevin) Butler of Mechanicville, Kenneth J. (Sandy) Darrow, Jr. of Mechanicville and Tammy "Mickey Mouse" (Brian) Darrow of Loudonville.
Ken was the brother of Clayton, James and Robert (Cindy) Darrow, all of Easton, NY, Margaret (Rolland) Poquette of Rouses Point, NY and William Darrow of Stillwater. Ken is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will commence on Tuesday morning, April 22, at 10 AM from the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (Corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180. The Rev. Virginia S. Deyo, Pastor of the Melrose United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy. Kenneth will be reposing in the Chapel of the Riverview Funeral Home on Monday evening, April 21. The Family will be present to receive relatives and friends from 4 until 7 PM.
