Obituary of Glenna Jean Ellis McClamrock
Glenna Jean Ellis McClamrock, 89, of Troy died on Sunday, March 30, 2014 after a brief illness.
She was born in Carter, OK on August 30, 1924, to the late Hallie (Maynord) and Thomas Ellis. She lived in Seattle for most of her life, studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Washington, and married the late John Monroe McClamrock on March 8, 1945.
Glenna moved to Troy in 1999 and forged friendships by following her passions. An experienced and gifted quilter, she joined the P's and Q's, a quilting club of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany, and their weekly gatherings nourished her mind, body (with chocolate!), and spirit. A voracious reader of history, she enjoyed swapping book recommendations with her Poestenkill Book Club friends. Her love of drawing and painting spurred her to serve on the Art Committee of the Beechwood Retirement Community where she lived and thrived. She was a loving mother, a caring sister, a doting grandmother, and a cherished friend.
Glenna is survived by sons David (Lora) McClamrock of Fort Wayne, IN;
Grant McClamrock of Seattle, WA; Mark (Linda) McClamrock of Seattle, WA; and Ron (Theresa Zubretsky) McClamrock of Troy; brother Thomas Edward Ellis, Jr. of Altamonte Springs, FL and sister Melba (John) Short of Seattle, WA; and grandchildren Peter Grace, Rosemarie, Elizabeth, Joseph, and Oz.
Per Glenna's wishes, there will be no formal memorial service; any memorial donations may be made to Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
