Obituary of Hilda M. Perretta
Hilda Perretta, 92 of Van Schoonhoven Square passed away on December 24, 2013. Born in Burlington, VT she was the daughter of the late Edith and William Barney.
Hilda relocated to the Albany area at an early age and worked for General Electric, Reuben Donnelly Yellow Pages and Albany Felt.
At the age of 71 she ventured into the dry cleaning business, owned and operated the Step In Dry Cleaners in Troy. Later in life she was a foster grandparent at the Carroll Hill school in Troy and was a published poet. Hilda is survived by daughter, Theresa Armstrong and her son, Malcolm Red Lawson (Mary Green) all of Waterford, grandchildren Scott Lawson (Emily), Casandra Lawson (Amaziah Wright)and Suzanne Smith (Nathan).
She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and her feline companion Princess. In addition to her parents Hilda was predeceased by her husband Ernest Perretta and her brother, George Barney. A memorial service to which all are invited, will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 26th at the Van Schoonhoven Square Community Room, 1 Van Schoonhoven Square, Waterford, NY 12188.
