Obituary of Amy E. Wuerdeman

Amy E Wuerdeman of Clifton Park, former resident of Troy New York, passed away peacefully at the Schuyler Ridge Residential Center on 9/26/13 with her beloved family by her side. Amy born in Troy, New York was the daughter of the late Matilda Horan Fitzgerald and James Fitzgerald and the beloved wife of Hugh "Pete" Wuerdeman, who predeceased her in 1999 after 52 years of marriage. She was also the sister of the late Francis Fitzgerald. Amy retired from the New York State Department of Labor after many years of service. Amy was a former member of the St. Patrick's PTA and Germania Hall Association. Amy and Pete enjoyed many winters in Lake Worth, Florida and were active members of their condominium association. Amy also loved her days spent at casinos and the Saratoga Race Track. Amy is survived by her loving children, Joanne Wuerdeman Ward and her husband Thomas Ward of Mechanicville, Teresa Wuerdeman and her husband Richard Adler of Clifton Park and Peter Wuerdeman and his wife Nancy Giard of Queensbury. She is also survived by her five granddaughters, Sara Ward and her husband Matthew Maiona of Boston, MA., Amy Ward Fryer and her husband Matthew Fryer of Clifton Park, Molly Wuerdeman and Emma Wuerdeman of Queensbury and Juliana Wuerdeman of Clifton Park. She is also survived by her four great grandchildren, Finn Maiona and Ella Mary Maiona of Boston, MA and Peyton Fryer and Dylan Fryer of Clifton Park. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sue Fitzgerald and several nieces and nephews. Amy's family would like to extend their love and appreciation for the excellent care Amy received at Schuyler Ridge, most especially the Clifton Hills nursing and CNA staff and more recently the staff from Saratoga County Hospice. Per Amy's wishes there will be no calling hours. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, September 30th 9am at the Riverview Funeral Home 218 Second Avenue Troy, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church Crescent at 10 am. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterford , NY alongside her beloved husband, Pete. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Amy's name be made to the Schuyler Ridge Activities Fund, One Abele Drive Clifton Park, New York 12065 or Saratoga County Hospice 179 Lawrence Street Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
