Obituary of John Thomas Sullivan
JOHN T. SULLIVAN, Albany, NY
Our dear and beloved friend, John T. Sullivan ("Sulli") died after a battle with cancer on July 26, 2012.
Known for his caring nature, incredible mind, quick wit, generosity, delicious margaritas, and his gardening and cooking skills, Sulli's passing leaves his friends with a deep hole in our hearts.
Our weekly Saturday dinners and yearly vacations, particularly to Mexico, his favorite destination, produced many great memories.
Sulli was an avid reader and long-time sports participant and fan.
He enjoyed softball, golf, downhill skiing and deep-sea fishing, and was a fan of Siena basketball and Syracuse football and basketball.
Born in 1946, Sulli grew up in Adams, NY; he was a graduate of Jefferson Community College and Union College (KY).
He served in the 25th Infantry Division (artillery) of the US Army in Vietnam and Cambodia (1968-1970), where he earned a Bronze Star.
In his career with the Social Security Administration, he worked in the Albany, Schenectady and Troy offices; he retired as Operations Manager for the Troy office.
John is survived by his sisters Joyce Folino and Susan Murray, along with many nieces and nephews in the Watertown NY area, and is predeceased by his parents Jack T.
