Obituary of Dawn Charli Armstrong
GUILDERLAND –
Dawn Charli Armstrong, daughter of Charles and Marcia Armstrong of Latham, NY, was born on July 11, 1987 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. She passed away following an illness on May 18, 2024 at Albany Medical Center Hospital 36 years young.
Dawn spent her early years in Troy before the family moved to Latham where she was predominantly raised. She received her education from Shaker High School, graduating on June 25, 2005. Shortly after graduating high school, Dawn joined the United States Navy in March of 2006. She was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia for the entirety of her military career from 2006 - 2011. Dawn served honorably during this timeframe as a Religious Programs Specialist Third Class, and for her service, she was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terror Service Medal. Dawn received an honorable discharge from the Navy in 2011. Following her military service, she returned to the Capital Region area and resided most recently in Guilderland until the time of her passing.
Dawn was a committed mother with a strong devotion to her two daughters, Celia and Anahi, and to Richard Doty, her partner of 8 years. Her witty sense of humor and radiant beauty illuminated the hearts of all that knew her. Her endearing soul will forever be missed by the friends, family and loved ones she left behind. Dawn had a strong passion for music and fashion and was a beautiful vocalist.
In addition to her devoted parents, Dawn was the loving mother of Celia Vanessa Calzada (16) and Anahi Dawn Calzada (15) and dearest sister to: Shontell (Cory) Jackson and Danielle Armstrong.
The Armstrong Family wishes to thank all of our family, friends and loved ones that surrounded Dawn with warmth and love in her final days. Our heartfelt gratitude also goes out to the medical team that provided care for her at both Albany Medical Center and at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.
