Obituary of Raymond J. Bronk, Sr.
TROY –
Raymond J. Bronk, Sr., 77, of Troy, passed away peacefully following a brief illness on June 17, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
A son of the late Edwin Nelson Bronk and Marguerite (Waddington) Bronk, Raymond was born on April 4, 1947 in Troy, New York. He was raised in Troy and was a lifelong resident.
Ray received his education from Troy High School (class of 1967). Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy on June 30, 1967. During his Naval career Raymond was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Harlan R. Dickson (DD708) along with his brother Charles. Awards and commendations include: The National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Mr. Bronk received an honorable discharge for his service in the Navy on April 1, 1969.
Mr. Bronk was formerly employed by the Troy City School District, with over 30 years with the school district specializing in maintenance. He was a member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh and the Vintage Ford V8 Club. His hobbies and interests included classic cars and auto racing. But most of all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends. His earthly presence in our lives will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his devoted wife of nearly 54 years, Linda M. (Kroll) Bronk, whom he married on August 28, 1970 in the Lansingburgh United Methodist Church. Two loving sons: Raymond, Jr. (Michelle Hines) and Richard. One cherished grandson, Karter Raymond Bronk. Two brothers: William A. Bronk and Harold Bronk (Mary Ann). Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by two sisters: Ruth Ann Stewart, Susan McCullough and three brothers: James Bronk, Charles Bronk and recently Walter Bronk.
Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the Bronk Family on Sunday evening, June 23, 2024, from 4 PM until 7 PM in the Chapel of the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180.
