Obituary of Patrick T. Murphy, Sr.

ALBANY Patrick T. Murphy, Sr., 62, of Albany, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Loving husband of the late Catherine Rosetta Murphy (d. 01/06/2015) of Albany, beloved son of Shirley (nee' Mayott) Murphy of Watervliet, and the late Thomas P. Murphy Sr. of Rensselaer, cherished father to his daughters; Rosetta L. Murphy (Adam P. Harrington) of Clifton Park, and Lee Somma (Richard) of Fort Myers, FL, his sons; Patrick T. Murphy, Jr. of Albany and Harold E. Murphy of Woodbourne, NY. Dearest grandfather to Lexy Sheehan of Fort Myers, FL, Michael Somma and Chris Somma. Patrick is also survived by his sister Debra Murphy of Watervliet, sister-in-laws Jean Plue of Gloversville and Kathy Plue of Rensselaer. Mr. Murphy was a hardworker and dedicated employee of TAFT furniture store in Colonie, NY, serving as their warehouse supervisor. His hobbies include; playing drums, video games, recording videos/movies he loved, enjoyed Facebook messages to/from his granddaughter Lexy Sheehan, whom he adored. His greatest accomplishments were his children and getting to Florida to see his granddaughter graduate high school, and then go off to college to be a vet. He was united in marriage to the former Catherine Rosetta Plue on November 25, 1974 (her birthday). That union lasted 40 years until her passing on January 6, 2015. Patrick's Family will receive relatives and friends from 4PM until 7PM on Friday, March 3, at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) in Troy, where funeral services will commence at 7PM.
