Obituary of Deborah Karen Borders-Haywood
Troy, NY-
Deborah Karen Borders-Haywood, 59, of Troy, formerly of Queens, NY, passed away with loved ones at her side on Tuesday September 22, 2015. She faced her acute battle with cancer with dignity and courage.
Deborah was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 13, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Borders and Catherine Roundtree.
Deborah obtained her B.A. from Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY). She was last employed by PathStone in Troy as a job specialist. Prior to that she was employed at the YWCA of the GCR, Inc. also in Troy as a job developer and Urban Pathways, Inc. in New York City.
Deborah was a beautiful, compassionate, kind and caring person. She was an advocate for the homeless, mentally ill and disadvantaged. She is warmly remembered by her friends for her wonderful sense of humor, her laughter and her love of shopping.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James Haywood, whom she married on September 5, 2015 after many years of companionship.
She also leaves a sister, Charlotte Borders, and many dear friends who loved and supported her.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, on Friday, September 25th at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street); Troy, where a funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon by Reverend Nicholas TeBordo. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
